The Pure in Heart

Blessed [anticipating God's presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God.

Matthew 5:8 (AMP)

Jesus taught His followers that having a happy life was contingent upon the condition of your heart. He said the "pure in heart will see God." If the Lord told Moses, "man shall not see me and live," what is Jesus talking about? It's not about seeing God physically but being able to understand Him better. People go to great lengths to improve the physical condition of their hearts but think very little of their spiritual state. Many people want to extend their natural lives but give no thought that Christ grants them eternal life.

A pure heart elevates your thinking. Elevated thinking rides on the "high ways" of holiness. What is the litmus test of a clean and right spirit? Knowing that the Lord is passing right in front of you because you always see His goodness. Focusing on everything good in your life is centering your thoughts on God. Once your prayer life switches from a long list of wishes to never-ending thanks, your life in God escalates.

God is love. Everything He creates is good. The Lord wants you to receive it with thanks. Jesus came into the world not to condemn it but to save it. How great is that? In Christ, you find your pure heart. He is your strength and refuge. Though your sins are as scarlet, His blood washes you white as snow. Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door to a pure heart. As He forgives you, you, too, will forgive others. The eyes of your heart will open, and you will see!
