Celebrating an Ending

Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Ecclesiastes 7:8 (ESV)

God has a way of surprising us when we least expect it. I personally experienced this when I prayed for a child. Despite numerous disappointments, I kept my faith and held onto the promises of the Lord. One day, I was overjoyed to discover that I was pregnant! It was a long-awaited answer to my prayers, and I was filled with gratitude and celebration. After years of waiting, I finally received the fulfillment I had been seeking from the Lord.

The Lord never rushes, unlike us. He knows the perfect timing to grant what we have been seeking. The Bible is full of examples of how God moves quickly when He is ready to act. Abraham and Sarah waited for decades to have their promised child, Isaac. But when the Lord showed up and told Abraham that he would have a child by the next year, Sarah laughed with amazement.

Take some time today to read John's account in chapter 5 about the lame man who waited beside the pool of Siloam for an angel to stir the waters. Unfortunately, he could not jump into the pool before anyone else, and therefore, he was not able to receive his healing. Nevertheless, he stayed there hoping for the day that he would be able to get healed. That day came when Jesus walked into his life. The man didn't have to do anything but simply obey Christ when he said, "Stand up and walk." That was his day of celebrating an end to being paralyzed for 38 years.

It's possible that you have some long-awaited dreams that you are holding in your heart. You may have even given up on some of them. It's important to remember that true fulfillment comes from Jesus and not from anything else. Even if you have given up on your dreams or found happiness without them, I want to let you know that you should expect sudden blessings from God. In one fine day, your life can beautifully change. The end of a thing is surely better than the beginning!
