The Bitter Pill of Ill Will

Anyone you forgive, I also forgive…. I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

2 Corinthians 2:10-11 (NIV)

Have you ever said, “Life isn’t fair”? Maybe you have, and indeed many would agree with you. The Bible speaks of the troubles of Job. One of his friends told him that “man is born to trouble.” He went on to say, “as, for me, I would seek God to commit my cause to Him.” Since Jesus came to give us life and give it to us more abundantly, how can life be unfair?

God is life. He is love, and He is just! Planet earth is a dangerous place where sin abounds. When we hold on to our resentments, we get bitter, not better. Grudges like glue bind us to trouble as Satan schemes for our downfall. Forgiveness is the only antidote for bitterness. If you are willing to take it, your troubles will turn into triumphs. Pardon will neutralize the poison pill of ill will for every source of pain in your life.

By God’s grace, people overcome lack, drug addiction, imprisonment, abuse, divorce, and every test of humanity. Choose to rise above bitterness like sparks that fly upward. Don’t let the challenges you face and the hurts you have embraced keep you down. Decide to forgive always and move forward to contribute rather than complain.
