Love Heals

“Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” But if you act like wild animals, hurting and harming each other, then watch out, or you will completely destroy one another.

Galatians 5:14-15 (GNT)

"Lovesick," I am sure you have heard the phrase. If you can't eat, you're over the top expressing emotion, you only think about the person you adore, love sickness may be your diagnosis. Because human love is conditional and performance-based, it can hurt! Both our souls and our bodies require unconditional love that comes from only one source, God.

Jesus loves us whether we think we meet His approval or not. He loves us when we don't love Him. He wants us near Him when we want to run away from Him. His love alone can heal first our soul and then our body. Our part is to rely on and trust in His love for us. Once you know His love, life takes on an entirely different perspective.

If you count on human love to heal your brokenness, you will be short every time. You will get beat up time and time again, primarily by yourself. Self-inflicted wounds abound in man's angry, jealous, and selfish souls. We are not punished for our anger but by our anger. Hurt people hurt people, and before long, they destroy one another.

If your soul is sick, your body is sure to follow. Jesus came to give us abundant life. Believe it and lift your soul to God and call on His goodness. Exchange every hurtful thing within for His love and then abide there. Live in His love, and His love will live in you. Your health will surely improve when you freely receive what He freely gives!
