Increase Your Joy
The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 29:19 KJV).
The joy of the Lord is your strength. Living for Jesus is not without its difficulties in this world. You will need to be strong to endure the temptations and adversities that will undoubtedly come your way. In Christ, you find a resiliency that causes you to bend rather than break when the weight of trouble comes your way. You can bounce back no matter what situation you are in as you tap into the Lord’s joy.
Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is not part of our human nature distinct from Christ Jesus tells us that our flesh is weak, but the Spirit is willing. If our spirit man is weak, we have little joy in our lives. We can strengthen our spirit through spending time meditating on the word and praying. Meek people have joy because they depend on Jesus and without Him they know there is no true purpose in life.
The world has a miserable lack of joy and an excess of distress, discouragement, and despair. Chasing after happiness and being preoccupied with self-indulgence may produce moments of highs but in no way gives an individual the stamina to face the inevitable lows that are sure to follow.
Joy comes from serving and giving rather than getting. If you want to have joy do for others. Elevate people instead of yourself. In humility count others more significant than yourself and do not expect others to think more highly of you than they do of themselves. Be thankful in all things. Be content with the things you have and find beauty in the little things of life. Take time to hug a child. Listen intently to someone and smile habitually. Forgive! Believe that though sorrow may endure for your night joy comes in your morning and it will.
