Holy Spirit Fire

Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting. And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 2:1-4 (NET)

I have heard people refer to the Holy Spirit as the forgotten person of the Trinity. Many believers have little understanding of Him and thus have a poor relationship with Him. Jesus came to save us, to give us life more abundantly, and we regard Him with the utmost respect and reverence. But how do we relate to the Holy Spirit? Are we conscious of His presence in our lives?

The Word teaches us that Jesus baptizes His followers with the Holy Spirit and fire. Christ told His disciple that after His ascension, the Father would send them the Holy Spirit, who is our comforter and guide into all truth. He is our sanctifier, meaning He comes into our lives to transform us from sinners to saints. If you belong to Christ, He is God's breath within you; as you breathe, He breathes.

Holy Spirit fire will destroy every idol in your life. He will purge you of self-destructive habits and thoughts. He will clean up your mouth and, in fact, give you a spirit language that will build you up in your most holy faith. He fills you with the love of God and gifts you with spiritual insight to empower you to do what Christ did and even greater things.

Friend, it is to your detriment to ignore the Holy Spirit. Your faith is apt to grow very dim if you do. The world around you will pollute you with its lies and misconceptions. He is the One who will light your passion for Christ and be your pillar of fire in every dark season. If you've never asked Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire, do so today and expect significant change to come into your life.
