Darkness: A Backdrop for the Stars

He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going [he is drifting aimlessly]. While you have the Light, believe and trust in the Light [have faith in it, hold on to it, rely on it], so that you may become sons of Light [being filled with Light as followers of God].

John 12:35-36 (AMP)

Social media can lead you down an aimless path. Before you know it, you've spent an hour wandering the internet's "land of nod." Getting lost in it for hours is easy without achieving anything productive. While some people may use it for noble purposes, there is no denying that much of the content can be dark and depressing.

From a spiritual perspective, only one path can lead us out of darkness towards enlightenment. By following Christ, we can have a greater purpose than ourselves, which helps us live productive lives. God has a purpose for all of us to fulfill, and in doing so, we find a life worth living - a significant life of which useless distractions cannot deter us.

Jesus is our bright and morning star. He, like us, was born of God, the Father of lights. We live out our lives in a world that can be cold and dark. However, as followers of Christ, we are the light of the world. Our mission is to shine like stars in the universe to give people hope and guide those who have lost their way toward the Light.

Decide to stay "online with Jesus." Let the stars in the night sky teach us a lesson. They appear small to us, yet they glisten and gleam from a backdrop of darkness. The little things, such as a kind word, a generous tip, or a sweet smile, can brighten the paths for someone who needs an encounter with Christ. You’re a star so shine like one!
