Count Your Blessings

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Phil. 4:6).

Does counting sheep really help you fall asleep? The theory is that the sheer monotony of the task will eventually put you to sleep. Sheep counting may stimulate your brain, making it harder for you to relax and catch those precious zzz’s.

Instead of counting sheep count your blessings. As you close your eyes to sleep, think about your day, meditate on two things and give thanks for them. Do not focus on unpleasant circumstances and worries of the day. Think of lovely things and good news. Do not allow yourself to be anxious about tomorrow. Cast your cares on Christ. You believe in Him; why not learn to trust in Him?

Whatever keeps you up at night needs to be put to rest. The Lord will deliver you. He is faithful to deliver the righteous out of their afflictions. Walk by faith, be thankful, and rest in full assurance that God is for you to give you a future and hope!
