Uproot the Lie

Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit. Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being (Proverbs 4:21-22).

The sword of the Spirit is the word of God. It is your go-to weapon to uproot any lie sown into your heart by the devil. It can dig out the poisonous dart that wounded and soured your self-perception. Absorb yourself in God’s word, and it will displace any toxic thought you have of God, yourself, and others.

When life throws you a curveball, you are most vulnerable to the devil’s attacks. You must not be ignorant of his devices. He is looking for a way to implant seeds of doubt and self-hatred in your heart. Soul pain is the soil in which the lie best grows. Offenses are sure to come in this fallen world, but the Lord has a cure. The word of God, if applied, will heal every wounded heart.

The longer the lie has remained in the soil of your heart, the deeper the root. The Lord is your helper. Jesus said, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up Matthew 15:13 (ESV)”. Stand on that promise and immerse your thought life with the truth. Speak the word aloud in your atmosphere. Preach the word to your self. It is powerful and will both cut out the lie and heal you. Confess the word that contradicts the lie. Confession is simply agreeing with God. He says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love. I have drawn you with loving-kindness (Jer. 31:33NIV).”

Where do you keep your “handy” sword? In the closet of your mouth. Open up your mouth, and it is waiting to come out. How does it get in your mouth? As you read, speak, and meditate on it, the word will gain entrance into your heart. Out of the heart, the mouth speaks, beloved. Put it in your heart, and it will come out of your mouth!
