Are You Yoked to Jesus?
It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth (Lamentations 3:27 NKJV).
Jesus said, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Who doesn't want rest for their souls? Everyone, but we want it on our terms. We refuse to lay down our lives to live under the hand of God. Submission for most people brings on the heaves.
What use is the prayer "Jesus come into my heart amen" when we refuse to take His yoke upon us? Surrender to him means raising the white flag of "I give up" so I can "take up" His cross to follow Him. The selfless purpose for which the Lord asks you to bear is your cross. But you endure it with Him right beside you. He carries the load and gives you the privilege of living a life of eternal value.
Living a yokeless life is a worthless life. We all need connection and relationship. Our choices of whom and what we will connect to in this life is tantamount to our well-being and safety. Are you living your life on your own terms? Or have you come to terms that you need not only a Savior but a Master who is both gentle and lowly?
