Which Yoke Have You Chosen?

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt. 11:29-30).”

People love to talk about being free. Some think freedom is doing whatever you want. Songs about freedom abound on our playlists. America finds pride every 4th of July in celebrating its independence. Do self-determination and independence make us free? Can you live a life of freedom through your own creativity and pluck?

Sex, drugs, and rock and roll can lure people into thinking that a hedonistic lifestyle frees them. Others believe” finding yourself” is the key to ultimate freedom. The common phrase we hear today is “live your own truth” and “express yourself” in any manner that demonstrates who you believe you are.

Jesus said, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” To know Christ is to know truth. Live His truth, and you will be free to see who you are. He invites you to come and learn of Him. Jesus will lead you out of the prison of your making. You will take upon yourself one of two yokes in this life, the yoke of bondage or the yoke of Christ. The yoke you choose will govern your path in this life. One will be, easy leading you to freedom; the other will be hard leading you to death.

Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (Gal. 5:1).
