What Are You Hungry For?

…happy those hungering and thirsting for righteousness -- because they shall be filled (Matt. 5:6 YLT).

Jesus said, “Happy are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness.” Why are these people so highly favored and happy? If anyone profoundly desires to be righteous God will fill him or her with it. You will become like a tree planted by the rivers of living water, and even in drought, your leaf will prosper. You will bear fruit even when there is dryness around you because you bring an oasis.

You become righteous by putting your faith in Jesus. It has nothing to do with you saying, “I’m going to be a good person today. I’m going to get up and be nice to everybody. I’m going to check off all my boxes. And I’m going to make sure I do all the rights things because if it kills me, I’m going to be righteous today.” NO! There’s only one way you’ll ever become righteous, and that is because you put your faith in Jesus Christ. Is it a miracle for you to become righteous? Yes. If you know that, then you know that there’s only one way that miracle can happen in your life, and that is because you believe Christ fills you with righteousness.

Do you know people who have no desire to be righteous? Do you know people who enjoy sinning? They don’t even want to put themselves under the Word because they get convicted and it puts obstacles and blocks in their sin life. So they hop out from under it. Unless you desire to be righteous, you won’t become righteous. But if you want it and trust the Lord for it, he will bring it to pass in your life.

What are you hungering after? Righteousness? "Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy them fully (Matt. 5:6 GNT)!”
