Anointed

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him (Acts 10:38 ESV).

Are you anointed? You are if you belong to the Kingdom of God. God anoints His kings for His purposes. God anointed Jesus in His humanity to finish His assignment on earth, the salvation of the world. Jesus, God’s son, became a man and was tempted in every way yet without sin. He understands your weaknesses. He will comfort you and encourage as you continue your faith journey in a world hostile to God’s desires and ways. His anointing catapults you over every obstacle, insult, and impossibility. No one can work the works of God without the anointing. As God’s children, greatness is ours as we submit our wills to His will and give up our rights to ourselves.

Many years ago the Lord told me to give up my ability to receive His ability. Such a simple statement but such profound truth has kept me to this day. His strength is His anointing. Jesus relied on His Father to tell Him what to do and what to speak. We too know all things as we give up our opinions and ways for His. When we depend on Holy Spirit to empower us, we can go about doing good and healing people oppressed by the devil. The anointing breaks the yoke of oppression that rules people as a tyrant. What a joy when people, yes-even nations, experience the anointing that breaks the assignment of the devil against them.

God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit to go about doing good. Though simple enough, doing good where you live, work, and worship requires His anointing. Apostle John, writing to the family of God, clearly states, “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge (1 John 2:20).” Come asking, “What is the next thing Lord, what do you want me to do?” Know God has anointed you. Have the confidence to do the works of God while there is yet day for the night is coming when no man can work.
