The Quiet Man

but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price (1 Peter 3:4 ASV).

Can you imagine a man hiding in your home? God created your body to house His image. In the deepest part of you rests your spirit or “hidden man” unseen by humans but fully seen by God. When the Holy Spirit regenerates your spirit through your faith in Jesus Christ, the hidden man emerges who sees, acts and smells, like Jesus.

Jesus described himself as gentle and lowly in heart, and yet His power knew no limits. This is who you are in Christ, and you are precious in His sight. The word encourages you to adorn or pay attention to your spirit man developing him with the Bread of Life, Gods’ word and communion through prayer and meditation.

Your spirit is eternal and will one day return to God. If you desire to fulfill the purposes of God for your life your spirit man must rise above your emotions and vain desires. Though it is hidden, your inner man can be extremely active in the spirit realm. You cannot accomplish anything of lasting value void of the inner man’s direction by the Holy Spirit.

Your spirit is capable of carrying the fragrance of Christ. Smell sends a message in silence. It can be both strong and sweet depending on its nature. Calm your emotions. Speak less to listen more. Abide in His presence, sing, take communion, read the word, pray often and His smell will fill the rooms in which you live.
