Outwit the Devil: Forgive

I also forgive…so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs (2 Corinthians 2:10-11).

Jesus gave his disciples authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the devil. If you have surrendered your will to Christ, you too have this same authority. There is only one place that serpent, the devil, should be in your life, under your heel.

The God of peace, who lives within you, crushes the head of Satan under your feet. He will remain under your feet unless you give him the upper hand. If you focus your mind on the things of the Spirit, you will have peace and a life of abundance. But if you attend to things that create strife and bitterness in your life the devil is sure to take advantage of you.

Bitterness poisons the heart making it hard. A hard heart blocks you from the goodness of God that gives you joy. Your heart is what affects the quality of your being. You must guard it because it determines the conditions of your life. That is why the devil schemes to produce painful situations in your life perpetrated by people you love or once trusted.

The roots of bitterness in your life thrive in the soil of un-forgiveness. Root them out by asking God to give you His grace to forgive. Keep your foot on the devil and release the pain of your past to the Lord. He will help you to forget the hurt by restoring everything the enemy stole from you.
