The Dance

His left hand is under my head, and his right hand is round about me

(Song of Songs 2:6 BBE).

If you are familiar with Hebrew, you may know the phrase Ani L'Dodi V'Dodi Li means, “ I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.” The Hebrew month of Elul, 30 days of “divine forgiveness and kindness” of which we are presently enjoying is an acrostic of that verse found in Song of Solomon 6:3. In Jewish tradition, it is particularly favorable to marry during the month of Elul. Race and I married 39 years ago this month. We chose the month of Elul by divine chance without knowing its significance.

You have an invitation, this month of Elul, to receive full pardon of all your sins and foolish choices. If you have been back to back with God, at odds with Him, turn around, and you will find the Lord is looking back at you. You can return to follow Him with no shame and guilt to face. The Lord Jesus only wants to love and restore you to His Father and yours. The question is will you initiate the change, will you take the first step and come back to God?

Zephaniah 3:17 reads “The Lord your God is among you, as a strong Savior: he will be glad over you with joy, he will make his love new again, he will make a song of joy over you”. Elul is a month of love and a month to rejoice. The phrase “he will be glad over you with joy” means Jesus dances, prances and swirls around in delight for you. What a dance partner we have. He leads, and we follow. Let the music begin.
