Son or Slave?

So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God

(Galatians 4:7).

When you surrender yourself to Christ, that’s when your life begins. Born-again of God’s seed, the Word of God, you change both outwardly and inwardly. You trade your beat up dreams and bratty disposition for God’s blueprint for your life and His nature. Incredible as it may seem God calls you to be His son. He chooses your inheritance and will release it to you as you grow and mature. He has much responsibility to turn over to you and much treasure to give you. His love for you is boundless. At the ends of the earth, you can call on Him, and He will hear you. He will not grow old and leave you, He will not die, and neither will He abandon you for someone else.

At the start of your new life, you are a trust fund baby. In God’s family trust is everything because without trusting Him you cannot be His son or receive His inheritance. God’s trust fund does not allow you to opt out of being a productive person rather it is there for you to become a fruitful and dynamic son. As your trust grows, you emerge to take charge of your Father God’s interests wherever He sends you. In the fullness of time, all that He promised to you will come to pass.

How do you engage with God? Is He your Father who unconditionally loves and accepts you through His grace and forgiveness? Do you serve Him out of obligation or duty rather than appreciation of who He is and what He calls you to be? Do you see God as your Father or your slave master? How you see Him determines how you will see yourself. Are you a son or slave? Sons have an investment account with their name on it whereas slaves battle for leftovers. Sons abide in the house of God while slaves run.
