Another Pair Of Eyes

Jesus said, "for judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind."

(John 9:39)

A short time ago I was on a subway train and saw a young woman who was apparently blind. She entered the train with ease but lost her way while finding a seat. A loving hand grabbed her just in time to prevent a head-on collision with the end door. Thankful for the help she allowed a complete stranger to sit her down as the train continued to forge ahead.

Jesus asked, “Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?” How you answer that question determines the quality of your life’s journey. The Pharisees failed to recognize Jesus because they believed He was useless to them and troublemaker. If they had admitted their spiritual blindness and submitted to Him, they would not have missed the time of their visitation. Pride keeps people blinded to the grace and goodness of God. It will block you from seeing the truth and keep you on a course of certain destruction.

God did not make haughty eyes. He detests them. Rebellion is in those eyes and while Christ would say, “Do it my way” they would lead you to do it their way. Though the way of Christ is much better and smoother, the eyes of one blocked by pride will always take the way of sin, killing the life of God within.

Ask Jesus to open your eyes daily so you can see clearly. When you cannot see allow somewhat who can, see for you.
