Learn to Discern
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil
(Proverbs 3:5-7 NLT).
Do you think you are smarter than God? I don’t think anybody I know would say yes to that question but many live as if they are. We all at times behave as if we are more aware than God. We do this every time we lean to our understanding.
When we base our decisions and conclusions on our perspectives and ways of thinking we bow to our knowledge. God’s ways and His thoughts are higher than ours. That means that God sees the whole picture not just one side of it. God is in heaven, and He looks down on the whole while we on earth can only see part of the whole.
The Lord knows who belongs to Him. His people are in the world but not of this world for the whole world lies under the power of the evil one. Jesus Christ left the world, but He did not leave without sending us a counselor, the Holy Spirit. You must learn to walk in the Holy Spirit. As you rise to walk in the Sprit, He will govern your steps and make it plain to you how to walk. As you obey you will receive answers, and doors will open for you. As you train and practice seeking the counsel of the Holy Spirit you will mature in your faith and learn to discern what is best and what is not.
Live like God is smarter than you.
