Man on Fire

...and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man... from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him.

Ezekiel 1:22-28 (NIV)

Our God is a consuming fire! When I first heard that description of God, I withdrew, thinking only of how angry He must be. My heart was not pure in how I viewed our heavenly Father. I skewed His actual image because I relied on my intellect other than the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

We live in a day where people call evil good and good evil. What Scripture explicitly prohibits has become, in the eyes of many people, including Christians, as good. Immorality of every kind is now acceptable by many who encourage free expression over restraint. Where does “anything goes” take us anyway?

The world is getting cold regardless of your view on climate change. Hard hearts abound, yet each can melt in the fire of God’s love. What makes you hard does not make you stronger, only bitter. Draw near to God, and God will draw near to you. Who can resist a cozy fireplace on an icy day? We need His fire to burn out every twisted lie we believe. As we embrace Jesus, His fire will consume everything in us that holds us back from the warmth of His love.
