A Bulwark of Truth

“We have a strong city; God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks. Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.” Isaiah 26:1-2 (NKJV)

Recently, in meditation, I heard the Lord say, “I am building a bulwark.” I was surprised to hear the word bulwark as it’s not a word that I readily use. I know that Jesus builds His church and no man or denomination heads it. It is a household of faith composed of living stones (you and me) with Christ as both the corner and capstone! Apostle Paul described the church as a “household of the living God,” which stood firm as a “pillar and bulwark of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15 NET).

In Matthew 16:18 (ESV), Jesus said, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The Greek word for church in this passage is Ecclesia meaning the “called out ones,” saints who have departed from iniquity because they name the name of Christ. There is a vast difference between how man builds and how the Lord builds the church.

The gates of hell, the realm of the dead, demonic spirits, cannot prevail against the saints who are strong in the Lord and the power of His might. The church Christ builds has salvation for its walls and bulwarks. It is mighty through God and can tear down every lie that appears to stand firm against the truth. The church of Jesus Christ is a warring company! Only the Ecclesia can overcome the spirit of delusion that has engulfed America. One of two kingdoms will determine our destiny, either the kingdom of light or the kingdom of darkness. Neutrality does not exist, for if you are idle, you have chosen an idol that will ultimately destroy all that is good.
