Check Your Anger at the Door

Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil (s) an opportunity (Eph. 4:26-27).

Most people lock their doors at night, but do they neglect to safeguard the entry points of their thought life? Guard your heart above all else, for it defines the path of your life. Let the Word of God enrich you. Mutter the Word to yourself daily. When hateful words or actions assail, please do not allow them to penetrate you. The devil is an opportunist. If you give him a foothold, he barges in to take everything. He is a territorial monster that goes after your family, finances, health, and God-ordained purpose for being. Unrestrained anger in your heart gets him through your door.

The devil is like a lion, seeking whom he may devour. Lions prefer wounded prey because they are an easy target. When the devil finds an injured person, he pounces on him quickly to take advantage. Anger, bitterness, revenge, and despair give off an odor that attracts devils. Rid yourself of these negative emotions by the cleansing blood of Jesus and the washing of the Word through daily meditation. Forgive people and no longer hold a grudge against anyone. The Holy Spirit will help you. Direct your thoughts to good things and quit focusing on the faults of others.

Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:9-10). Check your anger at Jesus’s door and experience abundant life. Your relationships will thrive, and He will give you the desires of your heart. He loves you, and He alone can heal you from every hurt and deliver you from the anger that snuffs out your light.
