What Is Your Worth?
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows (Luke 12:6-7).
Jesus came for those who are of most value to Him. He came to die for you and me. If you estimated your worth, how would you measure it? Some folks categorize their lives by their good deeds against the bad. As long as the good outweighs the bad, they consider themselves okay.
The Bible does teach that man is sinful. But the Bible does not indicate man has no value and is worthless. Our righteousness if composed of the good deeds we do is as fifthly rags. Our value as human beings far exceeds anything we can do with our minds or hands, whether good or bad.
God made you in His image. He created you as He did the birds. But your value far exceeds that of a sparrow. Jesus did not die “for the birds” He died for you that you would live for Him. His precious blood paid the ransom to redeem you from a life of shame and insignificance. His blood washes away every sin and shameful act off of you and gives you the right to live in His righteousness.
Only your creator can measure your worth. The One who made you knows your value. The question is, do you know your worth? Are you biting the hand that feeds you? Are you ignoring the awesome love of your Savior by living your own life rather than living for the One who died you? Jesus is worthy of all honor and praise, and only in Him will you know your worth.
