Start to Finish

How can you be so foolish! You began by God's Spirit; do you now want to finish by your own power? Gal. 3:3

Do you love starting projects, but not finishing them? Scientists inform us that when our desire is to embark on a new venture or project our brains release the “feel good” hormone, dopamine. That’s why we get excited and feel like we can conqueror the world. The problem is it doesn’t last very long, and our enthusiasm wanes along with the project we started.

Jesus tells us, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me”. When the Father draws you to Christ, He activates His faith within you. If you live by Jesus’ faith, you will finish strong. Whatever God starts in you, He obligates Himself to finish. But what you start apart from Him He will not finish. The Father that drew you to Christ will also empower you to remain in Christ. It’s not your power but His power that sustains you.

Father, finish what you started in me and finish off what I’ve started apart from you.
