Edging God Out

“My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So I will brag even more about my weaknesses in order that Christ's power will live in me. 10 Therefore, I accept weakness, mistreatment, hardship, persecution, and difficulties suffered for Christ. It's clear that when I'm weak, I'm strong (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 GW).

Apostle Paul said, “ There is no good thing in my flesh.” He wasn’t talking about his body or his skin. The flesh is our ego. In Christ, we must let go of our ego. Why? We must let it go because it's hostile to the Lord’s way of seeing and doing things. Ego opposes the Holy Spirit. As long as we follow our egos instead of our shepherd we shoot ourselves in the proverbial foot and limp through life with little victory and joy.

Our ego conforms to the world’s definition of who we are as humans. It’s our false self, dictated by our accomplishments, education, economic bracket, Facebook “selfies,” career, and position in the community. If you are a racist, deeply angry and easily offended, or a plain pain in the backside of anyone your ego is in charge. Your false self-reigns supreme if you seek to win desiring others to lose. The joy of the Kingdom of God is a win-win for everyone in it.

Let go of your pride and find your true self in Christ. What’s it going to take? Honesty and a dependency on the Lord that what He begins in you He will complete. We all struggle with surrendering our egos. It takes regular practice and training to undertake changes and fully trust that our worth is in Jesus. Don’t be blind sighted through life by your low life; lose it to find your high life in Christ.
