Is Your Burden Heavy?

…even to your old age I am He, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save (Is. 46:4).

Eternal life encompasses far more than the notion of dying and going to heaven. The way to have eternal life is to know the only true God and His son Jesus Christ. We all have an opportunity to get to know Him through the companionship He offers us. He promises to help us never to leave or forsake us.

All of us are born to adversity. No one on earth escapes this truth. To think that the child you cradle in your arms will never have pain or feel the depths of loss is an illusion. What is not fantasy is that the Lord by design made us incapable of bearing our burdens alone. If you do not trust that He is your burden bearer you will learn very little of Him.

You can study the Bible and in fact search the scriptures daily and still not know God or His power. You begin to understand Him and His supremacy when the unthinkable happens, and your only way through it is your dependence on Him. Your relationship with the Jesus who said “come unto me, and I will give you rest” becomes authentic when you make Him the carrier of your cares.

God promises to carry our anxieties. He pledges to subdue our iniquities. Take heart when your perfect life comes crashing down because God is with you. What you experience is not meant to crush you, but test your trust in Him. Minute by minute cast your cares on Him, and He will not disappoint you, and you will know Him the only true God and His son Jesus Christ.
