Getting Beyond Rejection
As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious (1Peter 2:4).
Lucifer, a powerful angel in God’s heavenly army, was an anointed cherub, one of the highest-ranking angels, perfect in his beauty. God described Lucifer as blameless from the day that He created him until iniquity was found in him. What evil was in him? He believed the lie that He could be God declaring “I will ascend to the tops of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High." Lucifer known now as Satan cast out of heaven, is the god of this world, who opposes God and His works.
Satan rejected himself, in denying who God made him to be. Self-rejection rises from a lie, and its intent is to abort the purpose of God for your life. Eve had everything living in paradise. She was fearfully and wonderfully made and yet she too believed the lie and abandoned who she was for something she thought could give her a better life. If you reject who you are, you reject God who made you in your image.
Overcoming rejection begins with understanding the reality of who you are in Christ. Jesus though rejected by man was both precious and chosen by God. You too in coming to Christ will come to know that you are precious and chosen of God. As you daily practice rejecting the devil’s lies, you will recover the parts of your soul you’ve yielded to his dominion. Appreciate that you are the handiwork of God and that He will finish the good work He has begun in you.
