Soul Food
Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.
(Romans 12:9)
The seat of your emotions is your soul. Healthy emotions enrich your life and benefit you in every aspect of life. A distorted view of love, angry words, moody co-workers, or unruly children can affect how you feel about yourself and others. Some very nasty stuff can stick to your thought life and soon you can get trapped in the middle of “stinking thinking”. When left unbridled and dark, emotions can lead you to do things that are both unwise and sometimes dangerous.
Do not allow your soul to feast on rage, self-hatred, regret, bitterness, and resentment all of which eats at your soul. Cling to the love of the Lord and in time He will restore what evil has devoured. Feed your soul with prayer and the word of God. As you renew your mind to God’s word and develop healthy relationships with believers who invest in you through discipleship and accountability, your thinking will change. A healthy thought life produces healthy emotions.
Everyone who comes to the Lord steps into His love and grace. He is mighty to save bringing you to completeness in Him. The salvation of your soul requires much patience, many tests, and trials, but all with a purpose to heal your broken emotions. Trust in the Lord and cooperate with Him as He shows you how He sees things. In Christ, you have a new way to live and move, one not driven by emotions or reasoning, but by a higher intellect, one led by the Holy Spirit.
