Are You Born Again ?

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-unless, of course, you fail the test-

(2Cor. 13:5)

Have you ever wondered if you are born-again? Do you have doubts about your salvation to the point of worry and despair? I have known many churchgoers that question their commitment to Christ. You may be one. To question your salvation is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact to evaluate yourself to see if you are really in the faith is a good thing. On the other hand to take for granted, you know Christ just because you walked down an aisle and cried while you repeated a prayer might be a death-producing deception.

Salvation is a gift from God and though you cannot work for it, if you possess it, surely it will work out of you. Apostle John says, “Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin;” and again, “Whosoever is born of God sins not.” – (I John 3:9; 5:18)

Simply put the evidence that you are born again will manifest in you. The power of Christ will disrupt the habits of sin you once possessed. You will practice righteousness and sin will become an exception in your life instead of the rule. Jesus saves you out of sin. He is your lifesaver. He did not merely throw out a lifeline to you rather He jumped into the sea of wickedness and plucked you out. If you move in the same cycles of sin with minor respites in between, it is a lie to say Jesus is your savior.

The lie will never set you free.
